If it detects a possible match, you receive an alert and verify the result yourself. This is an extra search signal, not a separate standalone search or a guarantee. Clear photos of distinctive features make comparison more useful.

How to take a useful recognition photo
Several clear, honest photos give the system more useful visual details to compare.
- Add a full view of the pet from the side and front.
- Use even light without heavy shadows or filters.
- Show coat patterns, ear and tail shape, and other visible traits.
- Take a separate photo of a scar, marking, unusual coat pattern or accessory.
- Do not upload documents, addresses or personal data instead of a pet photo.

Can I search by photo now without creating a listing?
No. There is currently no separate tool that uploads a photo and displays matches on demand. Comparison starts from a missing or found pet listing.
How accurate is automatic matching?
Results depend on photo quality and angle, identifying features, place, time and available active listings. You must verify every possible match yourself.
How do I receive similar-pet alerts?
Enable similar-pet alerts while creating the listing. Add an accurate place and time to give the visual comparison more context.
Is my uploaded photo public?
Photos are part of the public listing card. Do not include documents, phone numbers, exact addresses or other personal data in the image.
What if there are no matches yet?
Keep checking active listings, update important details and involve local communities. No match does not mean you should stop searching.
Should I upload one photo or several?
Several clear photos from different angles are better. A full view and close-ups of distinctive features provide more useful comparison data.
Does photo matching identify the breed?
Automatic matching looks for possibly similar listings. Use the separate WMP.PET tool to identify a cat or dog breed.
